If you trade recycled plastic you have met Scrapo. It is the biggest platform in the category by a distance, and for a lot of traders it is the default. This page is for people asking a narrower question: is there anything else, and would it suit me better? We are one of the alternatives, so read this knowing that — everything below about Scrapo comes from their own public site on the date given, and where they do not publish something we say so rather than guess.
What Scrapo is
Scrapo is a global marketplace for recycled plastics, describing itself as the world’s largest and claiming coverage across 140 countries. It is a Silicon Valley company based in Sunnyvale, California. Sellers post scrap and recyclate, buyers search, and the two sides connect on the platform. It covers the full commodity range — PET, LDPE, HDPE, PVC, PP, PS, ABS, nylon and PC — and pushes a mobile app alongside the website.
On cost: their website has no pricing page, but their App Store listing does state one. Premium is $19.99 per month, in US dollars and varying by country, and it unlocks unlimited chats with suppliers, access to verified sellers, unlimited offers, bumping your offers to the top of the home page, and a premium tag on your profile. The same listing states that auto-renew must be switched off at least 24 hours before a period ends, and that no cancellation is allowed during an active subscription period. Those are their words, not our characterisation — check them yourself before subscribing, because app-store terms and web terms are not always the same.
How Prime Polymers is different
Four real differences, stated without spin:
- Scale, in their favour. They are a global platform with years of listings behind them. We launched in 2026 and our board is small — currently weighted heavily towards PVC. If you are a buyer who wants to compare forty offers of the same grade today, they can do that and we cannot.
- Scope. They are recycled plastics. We cover prime and near-prime as well as off-spec, regrind, regranulate, recycled and scrap, because a lot of real trade sits across that line rather than on one side of it.
- Cost. Listing, browsing and posting a Wanted requirement here are free, with no commission on any transaction, and messaging costs £13.99/mo — the whole price list, on the Membership page, and you can start or cancel it yourself at any time. Their Premium is $19.99/mo. We have deliberately not converted that into pounds: exchange rates move, and the two are quoted in different currencies on different terms, so compare them as they are rather than as we might round them.
- Access without an account. Our board and the photographs on it are public — you can judge whether there is anything worth your time before giving anyone an email address.
Which should you use?
Honestly, for most buyers hunting depth today: them. That is what scale buys, and we are not going to pretend a new marketplace has more listings than the biggest one in the category.
The case for us is different and it is mostly a seller’s case. On a board with thousands of listings your lot competes with everything else for attention; on ours it does not. UK and European material is our centre of gravity rather than an edge case. And if you are a buyer, posting a Wanted requirement here is free and gets your specification in front of sellers directly, which is a better use of a small board than browsing it and concluding there is nothing on it.
Plenty of traders list on both. Listing here costs nothing and takes a few minutes, or one paste if you have an availability sheet, so the honest recommendation is to try it alongside rather than instead.

- You want the largest pool of recycled-plastic listings available anywhere, and depth matters more to you than anything else on this page.
- You are trading outside Europe — particularly across Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, where their volume is strongest.
- You want a mobile app for browsing offers on the move.
