What that means in practice
The only sheet and thermoforming grade here, at MFR 4 — low flow, because sheet extrusion wants melt strength rather than fluidity. A higher-flow PP is not an equivalent however close the rest of the datasheet looks.
If these numbers are not something you work with daily, our PP grades and pricing guide explains what they measure and how prime, off-spec, regrind and regranulate differ.
What to check before buying HC205TF
- Sheet and thermoforming want melt strength, not flow, so a low MFR is the point rather than a limitation. A higher-flow PP is not an equivalent however similar the rest of the datasheet looks.
- Clarity is usually why the material was specified in the first place. Ask for a sample of the actual lot rather than judging it from the published figures.
- Confirm the food contact declaration if it is going into tubs, cups or trays.
- Ask how it has been stored. Sheet grades that have sat in humid conditions pick up moisture, and it shows up as defects in the sheet rather than in any incoming test.
