What that means in practice

MFR 0.8 is the low-flow, high stress-crack-resistance end of the closure range, aimed at lightweighted caps where the wall is thin enough that cracking rather than strength becomes the way it fails.

If these numbers are not something you work with daily, our HDPE grades and pricing guide explains what they measure and how prime, off-spec, regrind and regranulate differ.

What to check before buying BorPure MB5568

  • Closure resin is bought on stress-crack resistance and organoleptics as much as on the numbers. A cap that taints bottled water has failed however well it moulded.
  • Ask whether the grade contains a slip agent. Borouge's pairs — MB6561 against MB6562, MB5568 against MB5569 — have identical density and melt flow and differ only there.
  • Get the food contact and drinking water compliance documentation for the specific lot, not the generic grade declaration.
  • For lightweighted closures, stress-crack resistance matters more than stiffness. Ask what the material was originally specified into before assuming it swaps.
