What that means in practice
MFR 1.5 sits between the high-flow 7581 and the 0.8 closure grades: enough flow to mould easily with more impact strength held in reserve. Borouge list it where taste transfer rather than strength is the risk being managed.
If these numbers are not something you work with daily, our HDPE grades and pricing guide explains what they measure and how prime, off-spec, regrind and regranulate differ.
What to check before buying BorPure MB6561
- Closure resin is bought on stress-crack resistance and organoleptics as much as on the numbers. A cap that taints bottled water has failed however well it moulded.
- Ask whether the grade contains a slip agent. Borouge's pairs — MB6561 against MB6562, MB5568 against MB5569 — have identical density and melt flow and differ only there.
- Get the food contact and drinking water compliance documentation for the specific lot, not the generic grade declaration.
- For lightweighted closures, stress-crack resistance matters more than stiffness. Ask what the material was originally specified into before assuming it swaps.
